Springtime In January
It is warm on Long Island for this time of year! January is supposed to be our coldest month. Over the next few days we will be in the mid 50's with the mercury possibly going as high as 60 on Saturday.
Last month was the first December on record where it did not snow on Long Island. My daughter and I attended a funeral service of a family member a few weeks before Christmas. The pastor said that it felt more like Easter than Advent. He went on to say thta there have been a few Easters in the recent past where it has not been this warm.
Back when I attended Mepham High School in Bellmore in the early 70's we had less than three inches of measurable snow one winter.
