CHINA, What a wonderful place!

Lucy and I in Beijing, CHINA

In September 2005 I had a wonderful opportunity and privilege of going to China. Even now, as I write these words it seems surreal. What a great three weeks we had.

Remember as a kid you would dig a hole, perhaps at the beach or somewhere else and you would joke about digging all the way to China? Remember getting Chinese Food? Remember watching a movie like The Pink Panther starring Peter Sellers and seeing his servant, Kato? Remember them going to Hong Kong? Remember studying about The Great Wall of China?
Well here we are on that Wall we studied about. One of the seven Wonders of the World! Look carefully, better yet click on the picture to enlarge it and you will see the wall continuing over the moutain ranges. Its construction began in the 7th and 8th centuries BC and continued for 2,000 years. The Great Wall is the world's longest man-made structure, stretching over a 3,948 miles! If we looked a little tired in this picture it is because of the climbing we did to get up to this spot. Whew! My legs hurt when I think about!

China is a wonderful land with deep rich history! That is an understatement! It is also a land of about 1/6 of the world's population. I made many friends there

and am blessed to have family in that wonderful land as well.
