Wind in the Backyard and All over the Northeast Today

It feels like March 25th rather than Lincoln's Birthday here this morning. The wind is whipping and the skies are partly sunny.

I remember a day similar to this one, not quite as windy, in March, back around 1965. My dad took the whole family to Mepham High School in Bellmore. We were going to fly a kite. He got it up in the air. It soared quickly. All of a sudden it took off for the wild blue yonder. The string had broke. It sailed over the High School Building. We watched it go. Then we piled in the car and looked all over the neighborhood for it. We never found it.

My folks told me it probably landed in the bay. They were probably right.
