The Dominican Republic

7 years ago this week I had the high privilege of going down to the Dominican Republic on a missions trip.
As a group of pastors we were going down there to help in recovery efforts from a hurricane.

We ended up being touched deeply by the LORD and His people there.
It was a wonderful time!

The Chicken was delicious and we sure ate our share in this restaurant right across from the mission station. It seemed like we were in there every night! Mmmm good! That is me with my dear friend and fellow pastor, Jerry Bonfiglio.

Over the weekend we stayed on the Lima Batay with Pastor Lyswa Rene and his sweet family.
He did everything he could to accomodate us even to the point of giving up the master bedroom, even with us protesting.
This dear family lives in two bedroom cinder block house. They have no electricity, no indoor plumbing and none of the modern conveniences we enjoy here in the USA. Renee works in the sugar cane fields 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. That is his part time job. His fulltime one is pastoring the Nazarene Church in his community. Even as I write my heart goes down there to these heroes, my heroes.
