If You Work For The King!

My friend, Greg Crofford's words this morning on Facebook set me to thinking.
"He wrote, In light of the recent shenanigans in Washington D.C., now more than ever, I'm glad I don't work for a President or a Congress. I work for a King."

Jesus said to Pilate, "My kingdom is not of this world." John 18.38

The current situation in the United States reminds me of a person going bankrupt and receiving the ability to borrow more money and feeling elated, for a short time.

Looking at my grandkids the other day brought a somber thought. We are 17 trillion dollars in debt, digging ourselves in deeper, with no end in sight.

China downgraded our credit and now is selling our debt to other countries!
People who cannot afford health insurance are going to fined by the IRS and still not have any coverage.

This got me almost to the point of depression until in my weekly prayer group we all were saying what Greg said in different words.

The kingdom we are in forever is not of this world!

1. It is an Everlasting Kingdom! Psalm 145.13
Never ending, always enduring forever.
Kingdoms and nations rise and fall. We are having to make new maps from time to time but God's Kingdom continues to grow and expand.

2. His Retirement Plan Is Out of This World.
II Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

3. He Keeps His Promises
Psalm 145.13 The LORD is faithful to all His Promises
Unlike our politicians who will say almost anything to get elected, God keeps His Promises!

I am encouraged today! The outlook for the nation is bad. A recent Gallup Poll indicated that only 13% of Americans believe the country is headed in the right direction. But the Kingdom of God is as always, Alive and Well and Everlasting!
