Backyard Paths

My backyard has become a series of paths. The one pictured here leads to the fish pond and water garden. There are ones that lead to blackberries, ones that lead to special daylilies and one that leads to the picnic table.

Life is one of two paths. Jesus spoke about this. He is the Way to the path that leads to eternal life. At the end of that path is Jesus and Heaven.

God placed this in the sky.
He did it to show His covenant with the earth,

More Visitors

Yesterday Emma, my granddaughter was here as well as my daughter, Theresa, and her friend Jessica. The buttercups bloomed and we all did the the "Do you like butter" test on each other's chins.

We finished the day with Joey Sendra bringing the log cabin down from The Migliore's in Setauket. They graciously gave us this wonderful gift that the grandkids will enjoy for years to come. Emma has already moved in! Ah life!

After running some errands this afternoon I walked out back and what to wondering eyes did appear but the male mallard! He was quacking up a storm. When he saw Moe and I he flew away.

My Brother Mark

It will be eight years tomorrow that Mark, my brother, went to be with Jesus. We miss him greatly.

The LORD restores our souls. God has rainbows for every storm. Sometimes we don’t see then until after it passes. May 12, 2000, my brother Mark went to be with Jesus. He died in a heavy thunderstorm. His favorite song was As The Deer Panteth for the Water. After he died and my parents came to his home, out front two stately deer ran down the edge of the river bank - his wife said she had never seen that before in the 10 years they lived there. The day after his funeral a white dove appeared in the church parking lot. Marianne, the pastor’s wife, called my mom and told her. A year later when Brother Hazard died, a white dove, on the day of his funeral a white dove landed in my garden. I took pictures of it. That July 4th after his death I was at my parents. They put in a memorial garden with all the plants and shrubs given to them. On that July 4th a storm came in but that evening God put a double rainbow in the sky. I took a picture - kids out on their lawn running around and God was saying, “I keep all My promises .” The deer, the dove, the rainbow... all things God uses in His Word to connect us to leaning upon Him and trusting Him.

He didn’t stop. Theresa, my middle daughter, just had a baby. Mark’s birthday was April 27th, 1960. Tristan Mark was born on April 28, 2008, the day after my brother’s birthday.

One day we will be together in heaven and be with Mark and we'll never have to say goodbye again!

Another Word About Rain

Years ago when I was in Bible College, I remember dear Dr. Perkins saying something very profound. I wrote it down that day and have kept it with me all, these years. Here is what he said,

"It takes rain to make the flowers grow."

Many will complain today about the weather here in the northeast. For me May showers bring blooms throughout the summer. Lucy also sowed some cucumber seeds outside just yesterday. This rain is the best thing for them! For us the rain means vegetables and not having to tap into Suffolk County Water Authority's source to irrigate them. God's doing for us today! Thanks LORD!

This Year's Visitors

This year I thought it would be fun to try and keep a Guest Book. We have many visitors to the backyard over the summer and in fact they have already begun to come!

Today Jerry Rugusa came and did a walk through with me. He is our videographer for the nursery school. Saturday Nancy Conigliaro walked through as well. She designs our church bulletin.

As mentioned earlier the staff of New Generation came earlier this spring.

The yard is open for you to come! Bring the kids and we'll have them feed the fish. You have an invite right here.

Uninvited guests is a term we use for wildlife that we do not try to attract but come because of the pond and flowers and natural food. In past years we have had a choir of toads, a box turtle and a frog lay her eggs back there. Dragon Flies have also laid eggs in the pond.

Everyone is welcome but especially people to enjoy God's creation in my backyard.

After publishing this post Lucia Zilinski suggested a Virtual Visitor's Guest Book.

So we will do that as well and the first one is Lucia!
Leave a comment and we'll publish your name.
Check out the archives from last year for some pictures.

Heading over to New London on the Cross Sound Ferry for A Day of Prayer

Today the pair of ducks are just outside the gate. Moe barked at them. I think they are scoping out the pond as a place to nest. They are beautiful birds. I wish they could come in and nest but as I said before they would ruin the place.
