Great Moments

I love it when there are still buds to bloom on the Daylilies along with seed pods that have been formed by crosses. Some lament the end of the season. For me it is a time of new beginnings. What untold beauty will those precious seeds bring?!

Post Storm Thoughts

Today Long Island received    more rain than it had ever had before in a 24 hour period. The heavens opened. The rains came. The floods rose. Basements, highways, parkways all filled with water. Our Town was under a State of Emergency.

This evening it is quiet. The skies are clearing. People are recovering. Tomorrow the sun will rise. The rain's damage will be with some for a long time. Some losses are irreplaceable. My heart breaks for those in the condition tonight.

We had a very dry summer up to last evening. We received more rain in 12 hours than we receive normally in the whole month of August.

With a quiet heart this evening I pray for those who got hit hard, that they will rest well, that they will recover soon and that we will remember all the people who love us and care about us. That was very apparent today, a sunny spot in the midst of the storm.

Raindrops!

We have been getting a steady rain for hours now. This is great. It revives the yard as the plants take in the liquid of life. The pond will be topped off. The toads love it. I am happy!
