Shh! The Garden is Sleeping.

It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year! We are heading into the coldest month of the year, January. We are heading for thedead of winter, those 6 weeks in the northeast we when we have a deep freeze. It is actually a time when the plants rest, trees too, before waking up to the spring. Since we had such mild weather in the late fall my goldfish produced a brood of babies. They are happily swimming around the pond on this New Year's Eve reminding us of the new life that spring will bring. Yesterday, my granddog, Isabella, and I were outside in the backyard. There are sure signs of new life besides the baby fish. the snow drops have popped up through the soil, the new daylily seedlings are making their presence known and other perennials are also showing their greens. My arugula continues to grow. While the garden rests we wait. Enjoy winter! Get some rest! there will be plenty to do in a few months! Happy New Year!
