Chickadee Report

So cool to have my grandson Tristan share in the feeding of the chickadees out of my hand yesterday. They were all around him but not sure if they can trust him yet. They will soon. He has their call down so well I can't tell if it is them or him!

Hiking In New Hampshire

Today my family and I set out to hike the Sugarloaf Trail up the Baby Twin Mountain in White Mountain National Forest. 

My grandkids who went up today are the fourth generation in our family to do this trek into some of the most beautiful mountains in the world. My Dad started it. I remember him leading us up there 50 years ago. When my daughters were about the same age they hiked it. Today my grandkids, Emma and Jackson join the fellowship of family members who have reached the summit.

The entire Presidential Range with majestic Mount Washington in the center came into view from the summit. We ate lunch, took in the gorgeous view, took some video and pictures then headed back down. At the base of the mountain is a river. Children and adults were frolicking in it. We joined them. I took the ice cold water and threw up into my face. I put my feet in. My grandson, Jackson, joined me. It was so refreshing to our weary bodies and feet.

Memories which were made today will join others already made. Life is not about how many things or money you accumulate. It is about things like this. It is about the family doing things together. It is about the simple things, the special things, spending time with your loved ones and making memories that only you can make.

Gifts From Heaven In My Backyard

Three very special gifts were given to me by my Father in Heaven this morning as I had my coffee on the patio. The first were half a dozen Chickadees who came to the table for their breakfast, the second were two beautiful Egrets who flew majestically over the yard against the beautiful blue sky several hundred feet up. The third was a hummingbird getting nectar from the Mimosa Tree blossoms.

Breakfast With The Birds

I have been putting a little bit of seed on the picnic table. As I drink the morning coffee I have been joined by the Chickadees. This morning I moved to another table in the yard, closer to the feeders. Joining me at the table today were not only the Chickadees, but the Singing Sparrows, a Weaver Finch and just before the male Cardinal! All of them 18 inches away and looking right into their eyes!
